Hobbies
My name is Alex, and I independently own and operate New Leaf Education. This company is a registered Santa Clara business. After many years as a teacher for other schools and tutoring centers, I decided to launch New Leaf Education in 2016. I have over seven years of teaching experience, with time spent as a classroom teacher, a one-on-one tutor, and a small group tutor. In addition to my past work, my qualifications include a bachelor's degree in history from the University of California, my CBEST license, and an A-rated TEFL certification. Because I work with children, I am also regularly trained in first aid and CPR. Through New Leaf Education, I offer one-on-one classes and tutoring for students and professionals of all ages and skill levels. As a teacher, my goals are to increase students’ confidence in their abilities, aid them in succeeding academically and professionally, and give them the tools to navigate the world as thoughtful and informed individuals. Because I teach one-on-one classes, I tailor each course to the individual student. I provide a free assessment at the beginning of the course, and classwork reflects the needs of the learner. I leave time in the schedule for clients to talk with me after each lesson if they wish. Students' parents are always welcome to observe lessons. I have experience teaching both ESL (English as a Second Language) students as well as students with different learning needs; I enthusiastically welcome all learners.
